With it being the last home game of the season, I’m going to spotlight some of Notre Dame’s seniors this week in the blog. Here are some comments from fullback James Aldridge.
On his career: “As a player and as a person, you have to look past it (football). There’s way more to life than ball for most people. For some people, you have to play this for 10, 15 years and that’s your life. That doesn’t happen to the majority. You have to prepare yourself. That’s just what it is. You have to.”
On Notre Dame: “It’s a gut decision and I’m happy, maybe not athletically, but as far as my growth as a person, everything fell into place and I see that now.”
On his class: “You come in as a highly touted class with a bunch of studs and it is what you think it would be. But then reality hits and you have to make adjustments to whatever happens, and that’s what we’ve done. There’s a lot of guys who left and the guys who stuck it out, we grew to be a close-knit group. And it trickles down. This is the closest team that I’ve ever seen since I’ve been here, and I think it has a lot to do with our class.”
On transfers: “People feel like they should make certain moves in certain situations. That’s beyond my control. All I can do is worry about what I have to do. I’m glad that guys who did stick around stuck around, because they’re some of my best friends. I’m thankful for that.”
