Kyle McCarthy moving to free safety

Kyle McCarthy, Notre Dame's leading tackler, is moving from strong safety to free safety — and he'll have a familiar face as his backup.

McCarthy is listed as the starting free safety on this week's depth chart, supplanting Harrison Smith — who is now listed as co-starter at SAM linebacker with Darius Fleming. McCarthy's backup at free safety is his brother Dan, who's making his first appearance on the depth chart this season.

Sergio Brown is the starter at strong safety, with Jamoris Slaughter as his backup.

Notre Dame's shakeup in the defensive backfield continued with Robert Blanton moving back to a starting spot at right corner, ahead of Darrin Walls. The other starter remains Gary Gray, with Raeshon McNeil behind him.

On offense, Robby Parris is not listed on this week's depth chart. The starter at the 'Z' receiver spot is Duval Kamara, with John Goodman as his backup.

Ben Turk and Eric Maust are listed as even at punter.
