Bethanys Hollinger-Janzen named Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year

Gatorade, in conjunction with ESPN, named Hollinger-Janzen its Indiana Player of the Year Wednesday.
The Bruin star and Indiana University signee was named Player of the Year by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association in November after leading Bethany (18-4-1) to within one game of playing for the Class 1A state title.
Hollinger-Janzen won the Elkhart County scoring title for the second straight season with 66 points on 29 goals and eight assists and was named Northern Indiana Soccer Conference MVP for the second straight year. He finished with 67 career goals to break a 25-year-old school record.
“A player like Femi only comes along once in awhile,” said Gene Guy, Hollinger-Janzen’s club coach with Elkhart County United. “I’ve seen him do some amazing things on the field. He really brought his game up this year and pulled a lot of people at his high school together. He really took control.”
A B student, Hollinger-Janzen is also active in his church’s worship band as a drummer, mentors at his church in association with the Boys & Girls Club and has volunteered at a local food band and as a youth soccer coach.
