BOURBON — The Nappanee man who died in a single-vehicle crash in Bourbon on Thursday drowned, according to the Marshall County coroner’s office.

Louis J. Cady, 75, was southbound on Beach Road around 6 a.m. when his 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck went off the east side of the road and into a ditch, according to the initial report from Indiana State Police. The ditch had about 6 inches of water in it.

Cady’s truck rolled onto its top in the ditch. A passer-by noticed tire tracks that left the road and called police. Cady was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary toxicology reports were negative for alcohol and drugs, and the preliminary autopsy report indicates Cady drowned, according to Bill Cleavenger, Marshall County coroner.
