Elkhart man facing multiple meth-related charges
Posted: 02/21/2012 at 4:28 pm

Multiple purchases of pseudoephedrine from area businesses led police to a home south of Elkhart where the occupant was arrested on several preliminary drug charges, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s department officers served a search warrant at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday at 58503 C.R. 111, between Mishawaka Road and Kulp Avenue.

Police found methamphetamine precursors and remnants of a meth lab in the house, occupied by Roland Somers, 46, the sheriff’s department reported. Officers also found 101 grams of marijuana in the home.

Somers was preliminarily charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of marijuana in excess of 30 grams, maintaining a common nuisance and reckless possession of paraphernalia. He was incarcerated in the Elkhart County Jail.

Police contacted a meth clandestine lab team, which includes Elkhart County Patrolman Casey Claeys and an officer from the Indiana State Police. All hazardous items found at the house were destroyed.
