CCS extending food pantry hours
Posted: 02/07/2012 at 1:15 am

ELKHART — Church Community Services is extending its food pantry hours to better assist working families. On Tuesdays, starting today, the nonprofit will keep the pantry open until 7 p.m. The pantry will continue to close at its regular time of 3:45 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

CCS is adding evening hours so families who work during the day will able to access services. Households needing food do not have to make an appointment to visit the pantry but those wanting financial assistance on Tuesday evenings must call ahead and schedule a time to meet with a counselor. Appointments can be made by calling 295-3673.

The hours CCS will be open are as follows:

• 9 to 11:45 a.m. and 1 to 3:45 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday

• 9 to 11:45 a.m. and 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday

• 9 to 11:45 a.m. Friday

CCS serves residents of Elkhart County whose income falls at or below 165 percent of the federal poverty level.
