Local church to examine faith and science
Posted: 02/04/2012 at 1:15 am

ELKHART — First Presbyterian Church of Elkhart is offering a series of worship services and classes on the question of the compatibility of faith and science.

Questions that will be explored include: What does creation mean? Do scientific discoveries about the cosmos threaten religious faith? Can Christians believe in evolution? Are humans more than biological machines?

The church will also examine how a number of prominent scientists reconcile faith and scientific understanding using the Test of Faith materials as a resource.

The worship series will begin Sunday and conclude Feb. 19 and be offered at all three services. Test of Faith classes will be offered at 9:45 a.m. Sunday mornings, and at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 9, 16, and 23.

On Feb. 12, the congregation will also join churches across the nation in observing Evolution Sunday.

For more information on the series call the church at 264-3109 or visit www.presby.net.
