Police warning of counterfeit bills used to pay for pizza
Posted: 02/02/2012 at 10:00 am

ELKHART — Police are warning businesses to beware that counterfeit money is circulating in Elkhart.

In the past week, police have taken two reports of a business receiving counterfeit bills, according to a press release from the Elkhart Police Department.

In both cases, a $50-bill was used to pay for pizza and its delivery, police said. The suspect calls for the pizzas to be delivered to an apartment, at which the male suspect waits outside when the delivery person arrives. In one case, he was seen leaving in a dark-colored van.

Anyone with information about counterfeit money in Elkhart may call the Elkhart Police Department at 295-7070 and ask for Det. Brian Schroth.
