ELKHART — The Elkhart County Parks and Recreation Department recently announced the winners of its 32nd annual photography contest.This year’s contest had 221 entries across four categories.

Jane Hunter won Category A, which focused on the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail, with Tina Nord coming in second, Samantha Markham finishing third and Ryan Matasovsky receiving honorable mention.

Cheryl K. Mast won Category B, which included photos of Michiana’s flora and and fauna, while Joe Buckreis took second, third and honorable mention.

Category C, which focused on visitors, facilities, staff or landscapes of the parks, was won by Sue Smith, with Mike DuBois coming in second, Joyce McGuire placing third and Vincent Massa receiving honorable mention.

Massa also won the youth category, while Thomas Mitchell took second, Maddi Lemler was third and Massa, Markham, Sarah Mitchell and Hannah Miller all received honorable mentions.

Christina Werbiansky received the award for Best Special Effects, DuBois won for Best Black and White, Vicky Matasovsky won Best of Show and, at a reception for the contestants, McGuire won the Photographer’s Choice award, voted on by her peers.
