Teens in custody after Elkhart County burglary investigation
Police were told Wednesday about suspicious people in a neighborhood. Patrolman Shannon Stanfill started investigating the report and Det. Charles Osterday got a search warrant for a home believed to be associated with people involved in recent burglaries.
Officers seized electronic items, including gaming systems and TVs, reported taken in two residential burglaries — one on C.R. 9 and one in Wakarusa. Eight guns also were recovered.
Neil Jariett, 18, and Rory Young, 19, both of Goshen, were preliminarily charged with burglary, a Class C felony. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on a juvenile delinquency allegation of burglary.
Jariett and Young are in the county jail and the 17-year-old is in the juvenile center, police said.
Although two burglaries have been cleared, investigators are looking into any other potential crimes that may be associated with the teens.
