December shipment totals fall

For all of 2011, shipments reached 252,300 units, which is 4.1 percent better than the 242,300 units shipped one year ago. The industry had expected 2011 totals to be lower at 247,100.
In December, 16,900 recreational vehicles were sent to dealers, a decline of 7.7 percent from the 18,300 delivered in the final month of 2010. Towable shipments were down 6.1 percent and motorhome shipments dropped 21.1 percent.
