The economy and employment are intertwined issues for the country that are being played for all the emotional hype possible in the Presidential campaign.

After 30 years in the employment industry, all I care about are the people I work with every day who need to find jobs, need to switch to new careers because of changes in the economy, people whose wages have decreased, and those who are trying to advance in their careers and jobs.

I have worked in areas with 20% unemployment, where retraining and new industry options were paramount. I have worked with union members on legislation. I have worked with people in “right to work” states; with hourly, blue collar, pink collar, professional, and executive workers. I was active in establishing a Private Industry Council. I have had the good fortune to know one of the top economic development experts in the county.

While Governor Daniels and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation have done good work regarding attracting business, we need a President, Congress, Counties, Cities, and Economic Development groups to work together to solve our country’s serious economic problems and provide good jobs for Americans.

From my personal research, I find that the economic plans of Senator Obama, and his vision of “we”, all of us working together for solutions, is superior to Senator Clinton’s. No “one person” can solve our economic issues; we need a leader who will bring people together to find solutions.

    Linda Baugh, President
