GOSHEN -- Rosalie E. Stoltzfus, 83, of 2423 College Ave., died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 3, 2009) in Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Alpha, Minn., to Lloyd and Nettie Pearl (Hartzler) Garber. On June 9, 1949, she married Daniel H. Stoltzfus in Jackson, Minn.
He survives along with six daughters, Priscilla D. (Jan) Trinkley of Walnut, Calif., Jane E. (Jim) Buller and Lois (R. (John) Mast, both of Goshen, Jean H. (Robert) Martin of Valparaiso, Danile R. (John) Martens of Mishawaka and Miriam F. (Michael) DeShield of Belize, Central America; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Verna Faye (Earl) Greaser of Harrisonburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd D. Stoltzfus, in 1973; and one brother, Peter Harvey Garber.
Mrs. Stoltzfus worked as a clerical secretary for 14 years at Madison Center, beginning in 1970. She was a 1944 graduate of Hesston College Academy. She attended Hesston College and worked in its administrative offices.
She served with her husband in Taiwan and Hong Kong from 1949 to 1953, and traveled with him to Hudson Lake Mennonite Church, New Carlisle, and Community Mennonite Church, South Bend. She was a member of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church. Pastor Steve Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery.
