ELKHART -- David Leon Myrick, 38, of Elkhart, died at 8:03 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 26, 2009) in Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1971, in Indianapolis to Chester L. and Betty (Bertholmey) Myrick. He married Buffy Lynn Clayton on May 4, 1991, in Elkhart.

She survives, along with one daughter, Kaley Nicole Myrick at home; one son, David Michael Clayton Myrick, at home; his father, of Elkhart; and one sister, Melissa (Raymond) Ferguson of Mishawaka.

His mother preceded him in death.

Mr. Myrick was employed as an EMT and a fireman. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and motor cross racing. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Goshen.

A celebration of Mr. Myrick's life will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday (Nov. 30, 2009) in the worship center of the New Life Baptist Church, 60536 C.R. 113, Elkhart, with Pastor Bob Wood officiating.

Elkhart Cremation Services is helping the family with arrangements. Cremation will take place.

Memorials may be given to Mr. Myrick's children.
