MILDRED F. MANN

ELKHART -- Mildred F. Mann, 95, of Elkhart, died at 5:05 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 22, 2009) in Golden Living Center.

She was born May 23, 1914, in Goshen to Leonard and Bertha (Holderbaum) Kiefer. She grew up on the family farm, and attended Good School and one year at Wakarusa High School. On June 19, 1938, she married Harvey Mann in Elkhart. He died April 26, 1995.

Mrs. Mann is survived by four daughters, Thelma A. (James) Bixler, Jeannine I. Mann and Marcia E. (Don) Troup, all of Elkhart, and Elenor J. Newton of BurkBurnett, Texas; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Clem of Tennessee; and one brother, Walter Kiefer of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, LaMar, Maynard, Manford and Lowell Kiefer.

Mrs. Mann taught Sunday school at True Vine Tabernacle (formerly Roselawn Mennonite Church) for more than 40 years and was active in the church's Girls Club. She was active at Church Community Services and later attended Prairie Street Mennonite Church.

She always had a large vegetable garden and flower gardens, and gardened until 1998.

Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Prairie Street Mennonite Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Rev. Gene Lackoure will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.
