GOSHEN -- The Rev. John H. Blosser, 88, of 1325 Greencroft Drive, died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 22, 2009) in Goshen General Hospital.
He was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Coraopolis, Pa., to J. Mark and Ella Mabel (Brechbill) Blosser. On June 16, 1945, he married Helen Marie Kemmerer in Allentown, Pa.
She survives along with one daughter, Ruthann (Martin) Longcor of Shipshewana; three sons, Daniel L. (Rose E.) Blosser of Cambodia, John M. (Deborah) Blosser of Swaziland and Joel R. (Barb) Blosser of Goshen; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty (Don) Young of Berne and Rosemary (Paul) Fry of Goshen.
Two brothers, Paul M. and Fred B. Blosser, preceded him in death.
A member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, the Rev. Blosser served as a missionary for 30 years in India, seven years in Sri Lanka and one year in Guam. He was also a deacon, Sunday school teacher and senior citizens pastor at the church. He was the chairman of JOY, a senior citizens group of north central district of Missionary Church.
After retirement, the Rev. Blosser became a crossing guard at Riverdale Elementary School, on the corner of Indiana Avenue and Wilkinson Street, Goshen.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and Wednesday from 10 until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, 61115 S.R. 15 N., Goshen. The Revs. John Moran and Martin Longcor, and Daniel M. Blosser will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery.
