LAGRANGE -- Mabel Miller, 89, of 1970 S. 375 W., died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 18, 2009)in her son's home in Middlebury.
She was born Sept. 15, 1920, in LaGrange, to Andrew and Barbara (Miller) Schlabach. On Nov. 28, 1940, in LaGrange she married Samuel J.R. Miller who died Sept. 26, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by six grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Bontrager; two brothers, Menno and Amos Schlabach; five half-brothers, Noah, Jacob, Emanuel, Sam and John Schlabach; and two half-sisters, Mary Schlabach and Emma Yoder.
Survivors include three sons, Jacob (Edna) Miller of LaGrange, Ora (Susie) Miller of Dalton, Wis., and Alvin (Mary) Miller of Middlebury; three daughters, Katie Mae (Alvin) Yoder and Susie (Delbert) Weaver, both of LaGrange, and Polly Anna (Glenn) Bontrager of Topeka; 49 grandchildren; 255 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Mary Schlabach of Topeka, Polly Miller of Charlotte, Mich., Ida Bontrager of Goshen and Esther Miller of Middlebury; and one brother-in-law, Levi Schrock of Kaleva, Mich.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Friends may call all day today at the Jacob Miller home, 3630 W. 200 S., LaGrange. The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Herman Bontrager home, 1895 S. 375 W., LaGrange. Bishop Sam Bontrager and the home ministers will officiate. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.
