ELKHART -- Joan McFadden, 80, of Elkhart, died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 15, 2009) in Elkhart Hospice House.
She was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Wakarusa to Carl and Wilma (Harrington) Strycker. On April 5, 1947, she married Orville "Bud" McFadden in Wakarusa. He died May 20, 1996.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Michael McFadden, on Sept. 29, 2001; and four siblings, Jean Farrer, Shirley "Red" Hartman, Alice "Skip" Gibson and Bill Strycker.
Mrs. McFadden is survived by one son, Gregory McFadden of Elkhart; three grandsons, Andrew of East Ridge, Tenn., Zachary Cameron of North Carolina and Collin of Harrison, Tenn.; and one sister-in-law, Vivian Morgan of Elkhart.
She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Elkhart, and retired from E.R. Carpenter.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to Friday's 1 p.m. funeral service, all at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. The Rev. William Sullivan of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery, Wakarusa.
