DORCAS R. EASH

GOSHEN -- Dorcas R. Miller Eash, 81, died Saturday (Nov. 14, 2009) at Goshen General Hospital.

She was born Nov. 14, 2008, in LaGrange County to Lee and Ruth (Troyer) Miller. On Dec. 24, 1947, she married Edwin J. Eash in Shipshewana. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2002.

She is survived by eight children, Rebecca (Mack) Whitmore of Chilton, Wis., Glen (Patti) Eash of Goshen, Karen (Lee) Hicks of Muncie, Philip of Centerville, Mich., Don (Rosie) of Greenfield, Leon of Middlebury, Myron of Wenatchee, Wash., and Paul (Gayle) of Elkhart; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by three sisters, Martha (Loren) Hartman of Camby, Ore., Esther (Ervin) Miller of Portland, Ore., and Mary C. Burhenn of LaGrange; four brothers, David (Barbara) Miller of Gallatin, Tenn., Silas (Grace) Miller of Portland, Ore., John (Maxine) Miller of McPherson, Kan., and Abram (Jackie) Miller of Goshen; and one sister-in-law, Donna Miller of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, F. James Miller.

For several years Mrs. Eash and her husband traveled throughout the country transporting Amish neighbors to destinations in Arizona, Florida and other places. Most of her life was dedicated to caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Shore Mennonite Church for most of her life and her life was a testimony of her faith in Christ.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shore Mennonite Church, Shipshewana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Revs. Carl Horner and Brent Eash officiating. Burial will take place in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana.
