JERRY L. ADAIR

GOSHEN -- Jerry L. Adair, 65, of 1601 S. 14th St. in Goshen, died unexpectedly on Saturday (Nov. 14, 2009).

He was born May 23, 1944, in Milford to Earl and Ethel (Fowler) Adair. On April 11, 1970, he married Linda Sue Conrad in Wawaka.

She survives, along with a daughter, Joyel L. (Vaughn Vernon) Shaw of Osceola; a son, Jay (Julie) Adair of Middlebury; a grandson, Max; and a granddaughter, Rebekah; and a twin brother, Larry (Nancy) Adair of Brimfield, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia Whetten; and a brother, Earl Adair Jr.

Mr. Adair graduated from Wawaka High School in 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 1964-67, serving primarily with the 594th Transportation Battalion in Germany. He came from Ligonier to Goshen 28 years ago.

He worked at Johnson Controls, Goshen, for 38 1/2 years, retiring in 2006. Since his retirement he had worked as a security guard at Menards in Goshen. Mr. Adair was a longtime and accomplished hunter and fisherman, hunting deer and small game and fishing local lakes, ponds and streams. He had bowled at Maple City for many years on various teams and was devoted to his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Omer Nisley of Brimfield United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier, with graveside military services provided by Goshen veterans' organizations.
