INDIANAPOLIS -- Staff Sgt. Grady Lee Holt Jr., 39, of Indianapolis, formerly of Elkhart, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2009) in Methodist Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 26, 1970, in Elkhart to Grady L. Holt Sr. and Lefuarn (Coleman) Harvey. On Oct. 26, 2009, he married Lisa D. Gerholdt in Kentucky.

She survives along with two daughters, Kyesha and Kianna Holt, both of Indianapolis; one son, Kayvon of Indianapolis; his mother of Elkhart; his father, Grady (Debbie) Lee Holt Sr. of Arkansas; one brother, Lawrence (Allison) Holt of Choctaw, Okla.; and two sisters, Rebekah L. Shorter and Letrevia Wheeler, both of Elkhart.

Staff Sgt. Holt was a U.S. Army veteran who had recently returned from Iraq because of illness. He was a 1989 graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School and a member of Canaan Baptist Church, Elkhart. He worked as a supervisor at Blockbuster Warehouse, Indianapolis.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin St., Elkhart. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Canaan Baptist Church. The Rev. McNeal Stewart III will officiate. Burial will be in the veterans' section of Prairie Street Cemetery.
