GOSHEN -- Jennifer J. Kern, 22, of 61784 Amber Meadows Drive, died Friday (Nov. 6, 2009) in her home.

She was born June 8, 1987, in Goshen to Dennis and Carolyn (Taylor) Kern. They survive.

Kern is also survived by two brothers, Jason (Jennifer Cross) Kern of McDonough, Ga., and Joel (Naomi Rice-Smucker) Kern of Carol Stream, Ill.; her grandparents and her boyfriend, Donald Patmore of Warsaw.

A 2006 graduate of Goshen High School, Miss Kern had been a phlebotomy student at Ivy Tech and was in her fourth year of nursing studies at IUSB. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka. She volunteered at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis and Lakewood Summer Camp in Wolcottville and went on several mission trips. She liked to laugh, shop, entertain, watch movies and spend time with her family.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Third St., Mishawaka, and one hour prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. Larry Whitehead, pastor of the church, will officiate. Cremation will take place following the service.

Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth St., Mishawaka, is assisting the family with arrangements.
