ELKHART -- Rodney A. Rice, 67, of Elkhart, died at 12:47 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 5, 2009) in Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, to James W. and Geneva K. (Kestner) Rice. He married Evelyn Slick 40 years ago in Lansing, Mich.
She survives along with two daughters, Angela (Bryon) Crebbs of Granger and Diane Rice of Elkhart; three stepsons, Ronald (Tamara) Moses of Missouri, Robert (Judy) Moses of Niles, Mich., and Richard Moses of Elkhart; one stepdaughter, Susan (Rob) Mulder of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; and two brothers, Gregory (Patricia) Rice and Fredrick (Kaylynn) Rice, both of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Allen Rice.
Mr. Rice worked for NAPA Auto Parts and owned Mr. Auto Body. Over the years, he built and owned classic and hot rod cars.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Walley-Mills-Zimmeran Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, is assisting with arrangements.
