KATHLEEN E. KOHL

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Kathleen E. Kohl, 74, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died Thursday (Oct. 15, 2009) in her home.

She was born April 16, 1935, in Berne, Ind., to Harry G. and Lillie M. (Kneuss) Augsburger. She married Maurice F. Kohl on Oct. 8, 1983, in Elkhart.

He preceded her in death along with two sons, Donald R. Bowen and Maurice F. Kohl II; one daughter, Connie Sue Kohl; and one brother, David Augsburger.

Mrs. Kohl is survived by three sons, Kevin D. Beers, David Wentland and Lawrence (Peggy) Wentland, of Elkhart; four daughters, Judith A. Hutton of Valdosta, Patricia M. (Andy) Norment of Elkhart, and Mary Ellen Wentland and Donna L. Kohl, both of Ivins, Utah; 29 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Lyle (Phyllis) Augsburger of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one sister-in-law, Norma Augsburger of Berne; and special friends, William D. Blowers of Portland, Ind., and Michelle and Randy Stouder of Elkhart.

Mrs. Kohl enjoyed reading, playing card games and jigsaw puzzles, and listening to southern gospel, especially the Gaithers. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She worked in Elkhart for 30 years as a bookkeeper for the mobile home industry and other businesses. She was a graduate of Geneva (Ind.) High School and attended Huntington College.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart. The Rev. Dale Turner will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
