GOSHEN -- Birdie H. Clark, 89, of Goshen, died Friday (Sept. 11, 2009).

She was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Lincoln County, W.Va., to Homer Albert and Narie Pack Hall.

Mrs. Clark is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Ned) Starnes of Goshen; one sister, Betty Kirk of Huntington, W.Va.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Hall of San Antonio, Texas, and Tracy Gallup of New Mexico and Hollywood, Fla.; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Golden R. Clark, three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Clark retired from the federal government's Bureau of Indian Affairs after 25 years of service in Gallup, N.M., and Hollywood. She was a member of the Hollywood (Fla.) Hills United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Central United Methodist Church, 8041 Lynn Ave., Hamlin, W.Va. The Rev. Audria Thomason will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park, Hamlin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church or the Alzheimer's Association.

Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, and West Hamlin McGhee Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, are assisting with arrangements.
