ELKHART -- Dora Jean Back, 78, of 60009 C.R. 3 S., died at 6 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 27, 2009) in her home.

She was born July 19, 1931, in Kayford, W.Va., and married Virgil Norman Back Sr. on Dec. 9, 1946, in Eskdale, W.Va. He died May 30, 1971.

Mrs. Back is survived by two sons, Virgil Back of Goshen and Bill (Becky) Crab of Orchard, W.Va.; three daughters, Brenda (James) Foster of Chelyan, W.Va., Nancy (Paul) Taylor of Belle, W.Va., and Rachel (Mark) Britton of Elkhart; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nona (Jesse) Martin of Ohley, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dallas Back; one grandson, Christopher; two sisters, Edith Kirkpatrick and Linda Russell; and two brothers, John Harvey Walk and Leonard Castle.

Mrs. Back was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, drawing, painting, reading the Bible and being with her family. She loved to laugh.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pryors Funeral Home, East Bank, W.Va., where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, W.Va.
