ROBERT A. EVANS SR.

STURGIS, Mich. -- Robert A. Evans Sr., 68, of Sturgis, formerly of Constantine, died Tuesday morning (July 14, 2009) in his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1941, in Copemish to Floyd and Emma (Salton) Evans. On Aug. 29, 1962, he married Sue Stotenbur in Tucson, Ariz.

She survives along with three sons, James (Teresa) Evans of Bronson, Mark (Tami) Evans of Mesick and Robert Evans Jr. of Sturgis; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Benson of Mesick, Freda Barney of Wayland and Marion Ruth of Hanceville, Ala.; and two brothers, Dale Evans of Copemish and Paul Evans of Mesick.

One sister, Janis Hayes, preceded him in death.

Mr. Evans graduated from Mesick High School in 1959. He worked in the RV industry and retired from Viking RV, Centreville, after 20 years of service. He enjoyed his hobby farm, gardening, hunting, cutting wood, feeding his hummingbirds and riding four wheelers.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes - Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.

Mr. Evans will be transported to the Terwilliger Funeral Home, 9188 Osmo St., Kaleva, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and the funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bruce Rose will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service in the Cleon Township Cemetery.
