JOSEPH A. GRABER

GOSHEN -- Joseph A. Graber, 76, of 16329 C.R. 18, died at 2:50 p.m Friday (July 25, 2008) in Elkhart General Hospital after a five-month illness.

He was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Arthur, Ill., to Abraham and Katie (Marner) Graber. He married Dora Troyer on May 26, 1962, in Middlebury.

She survives along with a daughter, Tonya (Mark) Eveler of Goshen; three sons, Joseph Scott (Joy) Graber, Jeff (Tamara) Graber and Ted (Rolonda) Graber, all of Goshen; one brother, John (Annie) Graber of Goshen; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, George Graber, and one sister, Martha Crapo.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Mennonite Church and will be officiated by the Revs. Linford Martin, Pamela Yoder and Ron Spyker.

Burial, with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post 210, will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury.

Mr. Graber was a truck driver and had worked for the Chicago companies of Midwest Haulers for 20 years and Transitall for 10 years. He had also worked for 13 years in transportation for Jayco in Middlebury. After retirement and until his illness, he had worked for G.D.C. Inc. in Goshen.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 210 in Middlebury.

He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Middlebury.

Mr. Graber was an avid horseshoe pitcher for the last 20 years. He was president of the Indiana Horseshoe Pitching Association. He enjoyed traveling to and camping at World Horseshoe and Indiana state tournaments.

Memorials may be given to American Legion Post 210 in Middlebury or the Middlebury Food Pantry.
