Scratch the Midwest RV Super Show off your list of things to do this fall.
The event, which has showcased dealers and manufacturers in the RV Capital of the World for 54 years, will take a hiatus because of the ailing economy.
"We're going to wait a year," said Mark Bowersox, director of the Recreation Vehicle Indiana Council. "All the factors being what they are, I don't think we could put on a decent show for the dealers and the consumers this year."
Typically the show is held in August but organizers first postponed the weekend exhibition and now have canceled it. In 2008, the event, held at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds, recorded lower attendance although the dealers noted many who came through the gate were interested in buying.
Pointing to positive signs in the market, Bowersox believes consumers are regaining their confidence and sales of RVs will be strong at the start of 2010. Therefore you can plan on the Midwest show returning next August, he said.
