UPDATE: More details released from Friday morning mo-ped crash

Police have released more details about a crash this morning that resulted in one man being airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital.

 

Jeremy Garber, 36, of Albion, Ind., suffered a severe left hand injury, possible fractures to his lower left leg, a head injury and a bruised chest, according to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.

 

He was driving what police are calling a "homemade mini-bike" north on C.R. 23 north of U.S. 6 shortly before 5 a.m. when he tried to make a turn.

A northbound Chevrolet Celebrity driven by Jack Salazar, 52, of Milford, struck Garber and the bike.

 

Salazar was not hurt in the crash.

 

Garber was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

 

 

7:50 AM:

 

At least one person has been airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital after an accident this morning between a moped and another vehicle. It happened just before 5 a.m. in the 71000 block of C.R. 23.

 

According to Elkhart County Emergency dispatchers, several calls came in to the 911 center reporting the accident.
