WOODBURY, Minn. -- Expressions of shock, grief and love fill a local college student's Facebook page after she was killed in an car crash last week.

Deanne Binde, a 21-year-old Goshen College junior from Lake Park, Minn., died Thursday night while driving home at the end of the school year.

"I don't want to believe any of this. You are going to be missed by so many," friend Kimberly Williams wrote on a Facebook message.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, Binde's car crossed the median and overturned at 10:25 p.m. on Interstate Highway 94 near Woodbury, Minn. Then two other cars struck her vehicle, according to state patrol. The other motorists suffered either minor or no injuries.

Students, faculty and staff at Goshen College learned of Binde's death Friday night, said Goshen College President James Brenneman.

"It's so jarring to read the messages from the day before the accident and realize what great friends and great plans you've been so suddenly cut off from," friend Hilary Mayhew wrote on Facebook.

Binde, a communication and theater major, participated in three Goshen College Theater Department productions during the past year. She played the lead in "Step on a Crack" last fall and was cast in "Absolutely! {perhaps}." this spring. Recently, she was the technical director assistant for the May Term production "Quilters."

Binde was also a disc jockey for The Globe (91.1 FM), played softball, recycled with the Eco-PAX environmental club and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and La Casa. She was a member of the Catholic Student Association and regularly attended St. John's Catholic Church.

The college is coordinating support efforts on campus, but many of Binde's friends are expressing their good-byes online, like Laura Dentler.

"You are an amazing person Deanne and I will never forget the energy and joy you've brought to the people around you," she wrote. "You are loved and will be missed."
