Diabetes Support Group meetings

The Elkhart General Diabetes Support Group gives patients and families dealing with diabetes continuing peer support. In December, the Diabetes Support Group will meet twice:

* At 7 p.m. Dec. 3 in Elkhart General Hospital Auditorium B

* At 10 a.m. Dec. 11 in the Healthy Lifestyle Corner of the American Countryside Farmers Market

The Diabetes Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month in Elkhart General Hospital Auditorium B and the second Friday of every month in the Healthy Lifestyle Corner at the American Countryside Farmers Market near Elkhart. Topics and speakers vary monthly. No registration is necessary. For more information call 523-3297.

Asperger/autism discussion Dec. 7

The Asperger/High Functioning Autism Parent Group of Goshen will discuss disclosing personal information for people on the autism spectrum at their next meeting, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 7.

Lynn Sayre, a social worker at the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism at the Logan Center in South Bend, will offer guidance on disclosing personal information for people on the autism spectrum, including guidance on when to disclose an autism spectrum diagnosis.

The group will meet at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, 602 South Eighth Street, Goshen.

Grief support services open to the public

The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. will be offering the following grief support services in December to educate and support those who have experienced the loss of a loved one through death. The groups are offered at no charge and are open to the public. In some cases, pre-registration is required by contacting 264-3321 or (800) 413-9083 or centerforhospice.org.

Good Grief Guys -- an educational group for men dealing with the death of a spouse, Dec. 8 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at The Mayberry Café, 736 Middleton Run Road, Elkhart.

After Images Art Counseling Program provides a unique opportunity for individuals to explore grief issues through the use of art, painting and drawing as an expressive counseling experience. Individual sessions are offered throughout the week at the Life Transition Center, 215 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka. For information call 255-1064 or (800) 413-9083. Open to the public at no charge.

ELKHART COUNTY

Upcoming Red Cross blood drives

Upcoming American Red Cross blood drives in Elkhart County:

* Dec. 10, 2 to 7 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 57415 Alpha Drive, Goshen.

* Dec. 11, noon to 6 p.m. at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, 63846 C.R. 35, Goshen.

The American Red Cross Donor Center hours will change today at the Goshen Blood Donor Center. The hours will now be from 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The Goshen Blood Donor Center is at 226 S. Main St., Goshen.

The hours were originally scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Two-day holiday sale at Goshen General

Enjoy a unique shopping experience with Seasonal Treasures from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11 in the Arbor Conference Center of Goshen General Hospital.

The Goshen General Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring this two-day sale in time for any last-minute holiday shopping at Goshen General Hospital, 200 High Park Ave., Goshen.

The gift boutique will feature gift items including jewelry, inspirational charms and bracelets, holiday shirts, fleece jackets, candles, holiday decorating items, back packs, stuffed animals, gift baskets and more.

The Goshen General Hospital Auxiliary sponsors a number of projects and fundraising events throughout the year. Profits generated from events as well as through the Maple Corner Gift Shop are returned to the hospital in the form of donated equipment and specialty items.
