GRANGER -- Televisons at the Beef 'O' Brady's sports pub were tuned to the DIY Network Friday night, as Warren Seegers gathered with family and friends to watch the 2009 Stud Finder Competion.
Seegers, of Goshen, was one of five finalists chosen to compete on the show. He and the other finalists framed and tiled walls, laid flooring and painted during timed challenges. The grand prize: their own show on the DIY Network.
Seegers was beaten by a Denver contestant, but that didn't stop about 20 friends and family members from gathering Friday night to watch the show and celebrate.
"It was a great experience," he said. "I'm glad I got to do it."
The competition was taped in September and included an appearance on the Today Show.
Although the Elkhart Area Career Center new media teacher and U.S. Army Reserves drill sergeant didn't win the competition, he has been given his own blog on the DIY network, which should come out next week, he said. He's also in talks with the network about starring in a vlog on its Web site.
The family also maintains a Web site documenting the renovation of their Elkhart home from an old church building at www.edifaceventure.com.
