GOSHEN -- Dr. Ebenezer Kio, a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist, has joined Goshen Center for Cancer Care, where he provides general oncology and hematology care with a special interest in lung cancer.
Prior to joining the cancer center, Kio was an attending physician in hematology and medical oncology at the Southern Ohio Medical Center cancer center in Portsmouth, Ohio, and also served as chairman of the cancer committee and a clinical instructor at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Northfield, Ohio.
Kio received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Benin in Benin City, Nigeria. He completed internships at University College Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria, University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and Spanish Town Hospital in St. Catherine, Jamaica. He completed a residency in primary care and internal medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center and Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Kio also completed a hematology and oncology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. where he received an Amgen Fellowship Award.
Throughout his career, Kio has participated in research in leukemia and lymphoma.He has published articles and abstracts on breast cancer, sickle cell disease and leukemia. He has also lectured on several topics related to cancer, including screening and oncologic emergencies.
