Two Elkhart County businesses were honored by Gov. Mitch Daniels for their longevity and community service.
During a ceremony at the Statehouse in Indianapolis on Wednesday, the governor presented Martin Hardware of Nappanee and Brunk Corp. of Goshen with Half Century Awards. The recognition is given to business who have remained in operation for 50 years.
Martin Hardware was founded in 1958 when Raymond Martin purchased the Gambles store and changed the name. Today the store offers more than 400,000 items.
Brunk Corp. is a family-owned business that started as a trucking company in 1959. Now the company provide warehousing, packaging, transloading, pulverizing, silo and bulk storage, and railcar storage for plastics companies across the United States.
