GOSHEN -- A man was airlifted to a South Bend hospital Tuesday evening after police found him with a gunshot wound in his upper torso in a Goshen store parking lot.
Police found 43-year-old Abdulhussain Alfartusi of Goshen near the loading dock at the Meijer store in Market Center, 4522 Elkhart Road, according to Capt. Sandra Snyder of the Goshen Police Department.
He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital of South Bend, where he remained in serious condition late Tuesday night.
Goshen police said they weren't sure whether Alfartusi was shot where he was found or brought and left there after being shot at another location.
Police at the scene said no suspect was in custody immediately after the incident, which is believed to have occurred around 5:30 p.m.
Detectives are looking for leads in the case, according to a press release issued by Assistant Administrative Chief Mike McCloughen.
