ELKHART -- Army Sgt. Kevin J. Morthorst, son of Joseph and Stephanie Morthorst of Elkhart, Ind., was one of more than 300 Army soldiers who participated in the "Spirit of America 2009" performance to the citizens of Fairfax, Va., Columbus, Ohio, and Providence, R.I. The performers paid tribute to veteran soldiers by dressing in historical uniforms and re-enacting key historical moments. He is a 2004 graduate of Elkhart Central High School.

JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq -- Air Force Staff Sgt. Heather A. Harvey, daughter of Robert and Rebecca Archambault of Elkhart, Ind., has been selected as the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing Tuskegee Airman of the Week at Joint Base Balad, Iraq; she was presented an award and a commander's coin by the wing's commanding general.

Harvey, a tactical aircraft maintenance technician, overhauled and inspected 209 wheel and tire assemblies, finding 12 defective components. She was the lead technician responsible for collecting, wrapping, packaging and crating evidence for an aircraft mishap recovery. She volunteered to assist in set-up operations for a Fire Muster competition, as well as volunteered more than 150 hours at the Air Force Theater Hospital in the operating room and intensive care unit at Joint Base Balad.
Harvey is regularly assigned as a tactical aircraft maintenance technician with the 18th Wing at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. She has served in the military for seven years and received her GED from Elkhart (Ind.) Memorial High School in 2000.

TACOMA, Wash. -- Peter L. Harris, son of John E. and Beverly J. Harris of Goshen, Ind., graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma. He is a 2005 graduate of Goshen High School.

FORT WAYNE -- Air National Guard Capt. John E. Robison, son of Kenneth R. and Mary K. Everett of Elkhart, Ind., has been selected for the position of logistics management officer. The logistics management officer is assigned to the 122nd Fighter Wing at Fort Wayne, Ind. The captain has served in the military for 17 years.
