ELKHART COUNTY SYMPHONY: The symphony opens its 62nd season, "Always About the Song," with a featured performance by cellist Wendy Warner at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Elkhart Memorial High School auditorium. The school is located at 2608 California Road.

GOSHEN COLLEGE

* The Maple City Chamber Orchestra begins its 2009-10 season with a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sauder Concert Hall. Free. Children are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal for a mini-parade during the concert.

* The Goshen College Performing Arts Series kicks welcomes Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer to Sauder Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Single ticket prices run $20 to $45.

* Sones de Mexico performs a concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23. Free with canned food donation.

DEBARTOLO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

* The Irish Chamber Orchestra performs at 2 p.m. Nov. 8 in its North American premiere.

MORRIS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

* Tickets for a 7 p.m. Dec. 18 performance by Jerry Seinfeld go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

* Tickets for Southold Dance Theatre's annual performance of "The Nutcracker" go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday. Performances are Dec. 12 and 13.

* At 7 p.m. Oct. 24, Casting Crowns gives a single performance. Tickets are on sale now.

GOSHEN THEATER: The theater will host local band Frequency Theater for "Darktober," a celebration marking its first CD release, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $10. The theater is located at 216 S. Main St., Goshen.

LVD'S CONCERT HALL: The Michigan bluegrass band Detour will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children age 12 and younger. The hall is located at The Old Bag Factory, 1100 Chicago Ave., Goshen. To reserve tickets call 825-7785.
