Waterford Mennonite to celebrate 50 years
Waterford Mennonite Church plans to engage in some setting up of stones today through Sunday in celebration of its 50th anniversary as a community of worship.
"Pillars Along the Way" is the theme of the weekend, selected in remembrance of Old Testament patriarchs who noted and marked the significant places where they experienced God by erecting stone markers. The name of the celebration is also the title of a book written by long-time member Wilmer Hollinger, which will be unveiled as a major part of the festivities.
From 6 to 8 p.m. today will be a hymn sing, introduction of the book, social hour and a preach-off. On Saturday afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m., enjoy a scavenger hunt, volleyball and soccer games, tours of Bethany Christian School, kids games, Hispanic food and more. Worship will take place at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday begins with a 9 a.m. sharing and story time about "pillar" experiences. A worship service and potluck meal will follow. For more information contact the church at 533-5642 or wmc@waterfordchurch.org.
