'Single Adult of the Year' to be honored
Pauline Yoder of Goshen will receive the "Single Adult of the Year" award from Avenue of Hope Inc. at a banquet on Oct. 16.
The award is given to a single adult who is involved in a Christian community within 25 miles of Goshen and has excelled in overcoming life's challenges and acted as a role model for other single adults.
Yoder has been involved in international missions for more than 30 years, as well as personal ministries locally.
Solomon Creek United Methodist Church, at the corner of U.S. 33 and 146 near Benton, will host the award banquet at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 per person for dinner and to hear speaker Phil Yoder of Elkhart. Purchase tickets at The Window, 223 S. Main St., Goshen, or by calling 533-7251.

Camp Mack Festival takes place Saturday
The public is invited to attend the 11th annual Camp Mack Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. New this year will be the timing of the benefit auction, which will happen at 9:30 a.m. instead of in the afternoon.
Feast on waffles, sausage and cinnamon rolls until 11 a.m. and a wide variety of lunch foods from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A silent auction begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Quinter-Miller Auditorium.
Music, a square dancing performance, various demonstrations, art and crafts, hayrides and more will be offered during the festival. Camp Mack is at 1113 East Camp Mack Road. For more information call 658-4831.

Join in 'Forgiveness Breakfast' Oct. 9
Dismas House will celebrate the power of forgiveness with its second annual "Forgiveness Breakfast" from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Oct. 9 in the Sacred Heart Parish Center on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
The keynote speech, "Forgiveness: What does it mean in business and organizations?" will be provided by Carolyn Woo. Admission is free but reservations are requested. Call 233-8522 to make a reservation.

Concert, workshop with dharma master
Will Tuttle, acclaimed pianist, composer, recording artist, author and dharma master in the Zen tradition, will be featured in two events Sunday and Monday at Unity Church of Peace, 905 E. Colfax Ave.
From noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Tuttle will facilitate a workshop titled "Opening the Intuitive Gate: The Keys to Developing Your Intuition" that utilizes both Eastern and Western meditation traditions.
Love offerings will be accepted.
From 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, he will perform a concert. "Piano Passion, Concert for a New World" will feature original music of affirmative musical prayer for world peace, celebrating the beauty of the Earth and the potential of our spirits.

GC alumnus shares his story of faith
Goshen College alumnus John Martin will share the story of his faith with students and the public during weekly chapel service at 10 a.m. Friday.
Martin served as director of the Department of Disabilities for the state of Ohio and is a winner of the college's 2009 Culture for Service Award.
The Goshen College Church and Chapel is on the south side of the campus, at 1700 S. Main St. The event is free and open to the public.

Special exhibit on Eucharistic miracles
Beginning Saturday and running through Oct. 10, St. Joseph Catholic Church will host a special exhibit on Eucharistic miracles from around the world.
Much of the text of the 140 panels describing 126 miracles will be available in English and Spanish.
The exhibit opens at 5 p.m. Saturday with a special Mass celebrated by Bishop John D'Arcy of the Fort Wayne-South Bend diocese.

Grief Support for Adults retreat Oct. 16
Registrations are now being taken for a Grief Support for Adults retreat to be held at the Lindenwood Retreat and Conference Center, 9601 Union Road, Oct. 16 and 17.
Through facilitated group sharing and time for individual reflection, the retreat will provide a supportive environment to grieve and provide the tools to once again achieve balance in one's life.
The conference takes place from 6 p.m. Oct. 16 through 3 p.m. Oct. 17. Cost is $70 to $85 per person and registration must be completed by Monday by calling 935-1763.

College professor will sign books at GC
John Roth, professor of history at Goshen College, will sign copies of his latest book "Practices: Mennonite Worship and Witness" from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. today in the Goshen College bookstore. A reception will be held concurrently.
"Practices" is the final book in a three-book series on Mennonite identity in the 21st century. The Goshen College bookstore is on the college's campus at 1700 S. Main St.

Dan's Fish Fry Friday for all-you-can-eat
St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 405 W. Beardsley Ave., will host Dan's Fish Fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
All-you-can-eat fish and tenderloins will be sold for $8.50 per adult, $5 for children and children younger than age 5 eat for free.
Eat-in and drive-through will both be available.
