Let's discuss 'Elkhart: Enjoy jazz, help a local girl recover from a bad dog bite'.
DaMonica Paul is likely to receive an outpouring of community support as she prepares for multiple surgeries to reconstruct her missing nose. The 4 1/2-year-old's nose was bit off by a pit bull while she was outside playing in the yard of a neighbor's rented Elkhart home last summer, said the child's mother, Melissa Paul.

| Why isn't the owner of the dog paying? Let alone the owner of the the rental property? What are their names? Maybe public shame and embarassment will help them to "pony-up" for her medical expenses?

| I agree with jaf, why isn't the owner of the dog paying for this child surgeries? The civil suit should have been filed months ago, if the dog owner doesn't have any money, it's time he get some. If you want to be the owner of a pit bull, responsibilities go along with that ownership. I think any one who owns a dangerous dog like that should have to carry liability insurance, of some sort. A few years ago here in Indianapolis, a soldier that was stationed in Iraq, and his mother here got together and brought a little boy to Rileys hospital, I don't remember the surgeries that he had but it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. His father came with him and stayed at the soldier's mother's home, there is always a story about the wonderful treatment that Rileys, perform and some I personally know of. I know that Rileys is not able to give all of their care free but this little girl needs a nose. I don't know who paid for his care or if it was free, The little boy died shortly after he was back in Iraq, less than a week. I encourage all who read this to please make a donation to Rileys. The next time you see that jar in the store ar at the drive thru window please donate what you can. No, I don't this family.
