Let's discuss 'Red Devils bedevil Jimtown in second half'.
The screaming roller-coaster adventure that was Jimtown football simply ran out of tokens. And like the thrill-seeking youngsters at an amusement park, the Jimmies didn't want to leave. They couldn't believe that there'd be no more rides in 2009. A 28-14 loss to West Lafayette Friday night saw to that. There was nothing amusing about it. | Jimtown had a great run and I congratulate them. I hope all of the Elkhart High School parents (Central and Memorial) and players pay very close attention to some of the quotes from Jimtown players. If they ponder what those boys said, they will see the difference between the mindset of their player and one from a successful team that advanced through the tournament and won games. It begins at home and on the field. IT is NOT always the coach's fault. Administration of Elkhart can learn from the statements made concerning youth football (rocket). We have EYFL and there is no comparison to what winning programs do in this arena vs. what we do in Elkhart. If you want to be successful and preach you want to be like Penn or Jimtown or whoever......you need to DO what they do. Elkhart focuses too much on what is good for Memorial and Central and plays the fairness game while other schools pass us by. Hence, one "program"--- EYFL with virtually no involvement from the two high schools. Systems and fundamentals are taught at a very young age at the winning programs. When we figure this out in Elkhart and the kids get years of repetition like the winning programs do, they will be placed in a position to EXPECT to win. Until this happens, expect mediocrity in Elkhart football. If you are an Elkhart football parent, ask yourself what you have done to make your child a better player. Whining to the coach doesn't count. Sorry to be harsh people, but a dose of reality is what it will take to turn it around in Elkhart.
