Let's discuss 'Goshen Council OKs tax phase-in for Cequent'.

Goshen's City Council gave final approval Tuesday night to a tax phase-in for Cequent Performance Products to add 47 jobs in the next few months. Even with high unemployment, the move didn't come without controversy. Democrat Julia Gautsche argued and voted against the move, saying the wages Cequent will pay aren't worth giving the company five years worth of tax breaks.

Mr. Leighty....in the future could you include who voted yea or nay? Was Julia Gautsche the only person voting against the tax phase in?

A five year phase in is less than ten years that most businesses ask for. One business that was given a tax phase in two or three years ago for expansion closed their doors when the RV business dried up. I drive by the place almost everyday. The joint is for lease/sale. Drive around any industrial park in the area and look at all the vacant buildings. Retail isn't far behind.

Julia Gautsche was the only person to vote against it.
