Let's discuss 'Indiana transportation plan has $130 million for Elkhart County'.

The Indiana Department of Transportation released a draft of the state's 2010-2013 statewide plan Monday, and it includes $130 million in federal, state and local spending on projects in Elkhart County. The plan is divided into two parts, major construction projects and state preservation/local projects.

The Prairie Street railroad overpass between Main and Middlebury Streets is slated for construction in 2012, with a price tag of $21.6 million.

I didn't realize this was a done deal.  Mayor Moore will have his legacy after all with what can only be named Dick's Erection.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why on earth the overpass (an overpass, and not an underpass???) is being built at Prairie rather than Hively. After all, there are underpasses a few blocks away from Prairie in either direction at Benham and also at Indiana.

Amazing.
