Let's discuss 'People's forum — Mayors' gun organization is hiding behind a smokescreen'.
The headline read "Seattle gun owners boot gun-ban mayor." Two-term Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels lost his bid for a third term when he was defeated in the August primary by two upstart candidates. Nickels was a member of Mayor Bloomberg's anti-gun group Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Going after illegal guns, per se, is an admirable cause. Now how about going after the illegal aliens in our community?
I he went after all the illegal aliens he wouldn't have the vote again to be re-elected.

Bob , going after illegal aliens is like going after illegal guns it will never happin , but we must keep trying. As far as the NRA , I would not give them the time of day as if they had there way we all would have an AK47, in my opinion. I am like Hawkeye of M*A*S*H* , alto I have a small hand gun for protection, I hope I never have to use it! Mayor Kauffman good for you. Keep up the fight for what is right.

| Those who would advocate gun control for criminals and for "illegal weapons" never seem able to explain how or why criminals will be convinced to give up their weapons. Criminals are the group least likely to obey gun control laws. We already have laws prohibiting felons to buy weapons. Are they deterred? And just what is an "illegal" weapon? Isn't the same gun that is legal for a law-abiding citizen illegal for a felon to purchase? And why is there less crime and citizens are MORE safe in Texas where gun laws are very lax compared to Chicago or Washington DC where gun laws are the most strict? How many lives might have been saved if a student carried a gun in the classroom where a crazy person shot and killed several students recently?

| The NRA as a reference? Give me a break, the NRA is not a credible source. Having said that, take a chill pill on the whole "prying my gun from my cold dead hand" deal and get a life -- you're not going to lose your right to keep and bear arms -- only the guys who break the law are going to lose them. Don't worry, plenty of guns being manufactured -- you can still buy another hundred or two.

Guns in this country are manufactured at a rate of one every 80 seconds. So much for guns as an ivestment.
