Where do we find the list of politicians and their unending wish lists that are to be auctioned?  Now there's a bid paddle I can put some english into.

The American dream.  Home ownership. renting from the state until you can't pay your prohibitive property taxes.

You got that right, sarowe. It would appear, unfortunately, that that is the way things are going in our society. No one except the wealthy will be able to afford a home of their own any more, and the peons will be fighting for scraps in the dumsters to survive.

If property owners did not pay all the taxes due from 2007, to have been paid in 2008, or did not pay prior taxes, "That property is eligible for tax sale," he said.

Nevermind.

Hey, I have an idea, let's put a new tax on those who can't afford to pay their current taxes to tide the government over until these people can once again afford to pay their old taxes!!!

That is pretty much the way things are working out these days.

"About 400 property owners on the list already have paid delinquent taxes and will not be included in the auction."

More proof that this paper is not much more than a tabloid rag.

And in other news:

GOSHEN -- A path to the county fairgrounds and an ending intersection for a so-called "road to nowhere" got nearly $6 million in federal funds this week.

I just want to say that not only is the government a part of this problem, but so are the banks. My fiance and I are on the list for auctions and its because our mortgage company failed to pay the tax for one of our lots since our house sits on double lots. We were unaware of anything until we received a letter in the mail saying that our lot would be put up for auction on November 30th 2009. I looked at a web site called freedom pay which tell me whether or not or taxes have been payed, and out mortgage company had only paid for on of our lots. mortgage company since and they still have not payed it. It just makes me wonder who else has this happened to.

I haven't been dirtied up in the eTruth mud pit for a while - so here goes - the local politician's opinion...

Why is home ownership such a high value goal that everyone should participate, even to the point that if you cannot afford to pay the resulting taxes that go along with home ownership - the rest of the community should subsidize?

A lot of the taxes due are for a few thousand dollars or less -- is that too much to pay for police protection? Fire protection? If you have one kid in the house - the community is spending at least $5,000 a year educating your offspring. How much is it worth to have a jail to put away the bad guys? What should a person pay each year to have a judicial system? A prosecutor to prosecute? How much is it worth to you to have a health department to do restaurant inspections, regulate sewage disposal, provide public health programs? Did you use a city or county park recently? If you live in the city -- did you pay to have your trash hauled? Property taxes are used in the city for street construction and maintenance - would you prefer a gravel street? Plow your own snow this winter?

The point is everyone complains about the taxes they pay and everyone wants a high level of government services. And it always appears that the elected officials are supposed to provide the high level of services without any money collected from the people.
