Let's discuss 'Elkhart County unemployment rate drops to 15 percent in September'.
Elkhart County's unemployment rate dropped for the sixth straight month to 15.0 percent in September. According to figures released today from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the September jobless rate is the lowest the county has recorded in all of 2009 but it is still the highest in the state.

| you see the reason the unemployment dropped is because the people that ran out of unemployment are no longer counted! so i guess they waited till the last day to find a job.govt. figures are as good or bad as they make them,so this should be great news for elkhart because the govt. said we will have a jobless recovery,so everything is falling into place.

| Obama should be coming back to Elkhart any day now to tell his mindless supporters that his $ 800 billion stimulus program has saved the day for the local workforce. Why in addition to "creating" a few dozen part time jobs repaving the Elkhart airport his stimulus money has "saved" several thousand other people in Elkhart county from losing their jobs. How could anyone argue with that. It's all based on factual information that has been compiled and verified by none other than Joe Biden himself. And for that the people of Elkhart should be forever grateful to the president even though most of those people are worse off now than they were when he last appeared on the scene to save the day. And by the way when is that "free" Obama cash going to be given out to the people in Elkhart like it was in Detroit recently. We need to feel the love too. We need our free Obama cash and we need it now. Maybe he can bring it to us on Air Force One the next time he comes to town. Big toothy smiles, hand clapping and foot stomping will be the order of the day when that free Obama cash finally reaches the good people of Elkhart.

| Cheap: What a typical response. So I'm an Obama hater and tea bagger because I dare to say that the $ 800 billion stimulus program has been a complete bust when it comes to creating jobs. Let's review the facts. When the stimulus was passed Obama and the democrats said that passing this bill was about jobs jobs jobs. We were told that it would create 3.5 million jobs. The actual result is that since February there have been 2.7 million jobs lost. On a net basis they were only off 6.2 million jobs. Not bad by Washington's standards you could argue. With the stimulus money the unemployment rate was not going to exceed 8%. The unemployment rate is now 9.8%. Now that it's obvious that the stimulus is not creating new jobs the administration has changed its story. Now, lead by the cheerleader in charge Joe Biden, they're saying that the stimulus has saved jobs. Thousands and thousands we are told. Almost all of them government workers by the way. So how does this effect Elkhart? When Obama came here 8 months ago he used this city as a prop and the people as a poster child to get this legislation passed. The people in this area who went to that rally to support him and the stimulus bill were hopefull that they would get their jobs back. They were played like a cheap fiddle. Obama knew that the main industry in Elkhart was the RV industry. Does anyone really believe that Obama is an advocate of the RV industry? RV's burn a lot of gasoline and are harmfull to the environment. Much more so than SUV's and big automobiles. These are not the industries that Obama and the democrats have in mind when they talk about green jobs and saving the planet from global warming. If the RV business is a casualty in the war on global warming then that's going to be just too bad.

dorop, you hit the nail right on the head! What I wonder now is, what are all these people gonna do with no kind of income? And Elkhart wonders why there are sooooo many drugs here in Elkhart, people will do what ever they need to do to get by. And for those who can't wait to bash me, we all know that there are other & better ways to make money besides drugs but drugs are easy to sell & for some reason, there seems to be a business for it. LOL, I have an idea but nobody is 'man' enough to make them immigrants go back to where they came from OR AT LEAST make the immigrants pay taxes since the American businesses are giving the work to the immigrants instead of the Americans.Oh sooooo sad but oh sooooo true.
