Let's discuss 'Embattled optometrist Gabriele did give falsified diagnoses'.
In an unusual situation, the Gabriele Eye Institute, PC, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a criminal charge in U.S. District Court. The corporation admitted that Dr. Philip Gabriele performed unnecessary procedures and that his staff altered patients' charts, even though Gabriele killed himself in June.

| How horribly sad for all involved - and now it makes everyone more leary of having surgery without several "second" opinions. And we wonder why insurance premiums are so high? This is just the tip of the iceburg that is creating problems fro all people and insurance companies. And so sad that he killed his wife (according to the police since one is a sucide and the other is a homicide) to try to cover the paper tracks.

| A lot of this surgery was under Medicare and Medicaid. My father in law was one of the victims of this Doctor. Medicare and Medicaid should have had a red flag come up with so many surgeries from one doctor. I don't think there is any warning systems like this in use by the government though.
