Let's discuss 'POLICE AT FULL STRENGTH'.
Truth Staff ELKHART-- The Elkhart Police Department is finally at full staff with the hiring of four new officers Tuesday, said Tim Balyeat, Elkhart assistant police chief. Balyeat announced to the Board of Public Safety Tuesday the police department will be operating "at full strength" for the first time in a long time. | I couldn't help but notice from the photos that the new officers are all dressed in attire appropriate for what is a very important occasion in their lives. The mayor is dressed like he is on his way to a garage sale. Guess swearing in new police officers is not that big of a deal to the mayor. It sort of rubs off the shiny on an otherwise positive story.

| I noticed that also. Mayor Moore, for reasons known only to him, seems to relish walking around in Sansabelt slacks, tennis shoes with Velcro closures, and a maroon Member's Only jacket. And no, I'm not kidding; I've actually seen him in person several times wearing this ensemble. Way to project an air of professionalism and intelligence while selling our city to potential investors/business leaders. They should just lock Dick the Hunchback in the basement over at City Hall, and let Arvis Dawson make all public appearances. Not only does he actually smile once in a while (unlike Mayor Grimace), but he owns a real, honest-to-god suit. In fact, he might have two or three in the closet. What a concept.

| I don't have anything against the mayor and if he works best in casual attire, that's fine by me. However, I would think he might be better served to keep a suit in the office closet he can change into for ceremonial appearances. He can change back out of it afterwards. At a minimum, maybe a quick peek in the room to see if there are any media types in attendance with cameras or video!

The mayor dresses like a small town politician who is going nowhere and has no ambition and the kids, getting the new job, dress like they take it serious. The reality of the kids jobs just met the reality of the mayor's job. It all goes down hill from here. Here's hoping that the mayor's example does not dishearten the new cops.

This is what I had to wear for my night of free thunderbird and chicken wings. Some people might think the tiara was over the top, not me I think it makes the outfit and clearly shows your exceptional fashion sense.
