Let's discuss 'Former Elkhart coach avoids jail time for child sex charges'.
A former Elkhart teacher and coach charged with child seduction entered a guilty plea Monday, but will not be going to jail, according to WNDU, The Elkhart Truth's reporting partner. Dennis Jay, 36, faced three counts of felony child seduction.

OK I still don't understand why the judge suspended the jail time, can anybody explain this. He was a teacher, and supposed to be a leader, and was responsible for molding young minds and boddies, as far as I can see he has commited a terrible crime, and needs to be punnished accordingly.

I'm guessing it's probably because the girl was 17 and in Indiana, age of consent is 16.

| He pleaded guilty to battery and the other charges were dropped because the girlfriend did not cooperate with the case against him. The full story is in the South Bend Tribune today. You can read it on line. Why doesn't the Truth report the whole story?
